About two weeks ago, Jenkins and I were notified by Shirley from Good News Vancouver about an upcoming promotion they were holding in conjunction with Rasoee Indian Kitchen and Kids Up Front, a charitable organization that looks to provide under privileged kids with tickets to arts, culture, and sporting events. Similar to deals Good News has done previously, Rasoee will be offering their signature curry wrap from March 15-20 via Good News for only $1. All proceed will go to Kids Up Front.
To promote this event, Shirley invited us to a lunch at Rasoee over the weekend so we could try out the food and meet the people behind the restaurant and Kids Up Front. Since it was a promotional event and for a good cause, I won’t do my typical review today…that will have to wait for when I come back to the restaurant for a regular meal.
But…just to give you a preview of what you will get if you were to participate in the $1 deal, here are some pics of the wraps that Jenkins and I had. I went for the Be Green Curry Wrap, which had a spinach sauce with cinnamon and chicken. It came with a load of fresh vegetables and some basmati rice. I wouldn’t say it is your typical Indian dish and it definitely had some liberties taken with it but it was still tasty and very filling.
Jenkins had similar comments to mine with his Classic Curry Wrap with chicken as well. He chose to have his in a whole wheat naan and he thought it was tasty and while not really authentic, made for a great lunch option and enjoyable to eat. However, he noted that he preferred my choice over his. This was funny because I actually preferred his wrap more.
We had a great time at the Rasoee lunch, including meeting the people behind the restaurant, Good News, Kids Up Front, as well as a few other bloggers. What I liked about the food at Rasoee was that they tried to make it as healthy as possible without compromising the flavours. To encourage you to give them a try, I’m offering a couple of free coupon packages for our readers to try out some of Rasoee’s most popular items, including their curry bowl, samosas, and mango lassi. All you need to do to enter this giveaway is to leave a comment below! Oh, and don’t forget to check out the Good News/Rasoee/Kids Up Front special starting on March 15.
Update: I forgot to add that the free giveaway promotion will end on Friday March 18. I’ll announce the winners over the weekend!
