Review: Lunch at Junsei River

by gigi on August 3, 2009

A group of us headed over to Junsei River one day for lunch. Junsei River had moved to the old Prima Taste location from its original spot a few stores down on Robson Street. I had never eaten at its old location (when it was called Kishu River) so I figured I should give the new location a try.

I was not feeling very hungry that day so I decided to order a negitoro roll and a spicy salmon roll. Even though I had only ordered two rolls, when my order was presented to me, I was still pretty disappointed with its size. The green onions were not even mixed with the toro and was a bit on the flavourless side. The spicy salmon was even more sad looking and was basically a regular salmon roll with a dollop of spicy mayo on top. I could not really taste the salmon in my roll and the spicy mayo was not very spicy.

Most of my lunch mates ordered lunch boxes (around $8.95) and these seemed to be a better deal than what I had ordered. Perhaps if I go back to Jinsei River, I will give these a try but since there are so many restaurants from choose from, it may be a while before I go back.
