Review: ShuRaku Sake Bar & Bistro

Today’s review comes to you from the fabulous Pick, who once again is guest reviewing on Ho Yummy. Thanks Pick for your contribution! :)

———————————————————-

After a morning work seminar downtown, I met up with D for a quick bite and he brought me to ShuRaku Sake Bar and Bistro for lunch. ShuRaku is a contemporary Japanese restaurant located on Granville and Robson. Although having been there for dinner before, I was a bit more impressed during my lunch visit.

D ordered the karaage chicken set ($9.95), which came with chicken karaage, miso soup, rice, and fresh greens. I forgot to take a picture of it, but both D and I agreed that the food was quite good.

For myself, I ordered the chicken ramen ($9.50). The portion was slightly smaller than I expected, but the ramen was very flavorful. I’ve had the opportunity to try ramen at a few other Japanese restaurants, but found the ramen at ShuRaku a notch above most other ramen places. The addition of a stylish designer bowl might have added to the overall ramen experience too.
