Review: Tomokazu Japanese Restaurant

I generally don’t go to all-you-can-eat sushi places, especially for dinner because the value just doesn’t seem to be there at $20+ per person. However, when I do have a hankering for all-you-can eat, I usually go to Tomokazu Japanese Restaurant, which is located on W. Broadway and Alder (between Oak and Granville).

Tomokazu Japanese Restaurant

Tomomazu has an extensive all-you-can-eat selection, which includes a variety of sashimi, nigiri sushi, grilled items, and my personal favourite, fresh oysters. Yum! As with most all-you-can eat places, it is always the most fun and you get the most variety when you go with a group of people.

We ordered a variety of nigiri sushi including unagi (eel), chopped scallop, abalone, shark fin, and lobster.

The next time we go, we would order less during each “round” of eating. Otherwise, the food comes all at once and can be quite overwelming.

On the weekends, it is best to make reservations if you want to go at the prime dinner hour. We went there on a weekday though and it wasn’t too busy. Everyone at the table has to either do the all-you-can-eat or the a-la-carte menu. It’s definitely worth checking out, especially if you are going with a group of people.
